SUD OUEST to prepare its 23 editions using Protec’s applications
More than 350 journalists will use MILENIUM to prepare the Sud Ouest group’s different local editions2006-05-08The French group SUD OUEST has acquired Protec’s MILENIUM Cross Media solutions in order to renew and modernise its systems and infrastructures. The company’s daily circulation of approximately 318,000, which translates into more than a million readers, is the third largest in the French regional press market. It has more than one thousand employees, including 350 journalists who will use MILENIUM to prepare the Sud Ouest’s 23 local editions.
SUD OUEST, located in the French department of the Gironde, started operating in 1944 with the publication of the Sud Ouest newspaper in Bordeaux. Slowly but surely, it has widened its scope to include the whole Aquitaine region, covering the Atlantic coast, the Pyrenees and the Basque Country. The Sud Ouest newspaper has just celebrated its 60th birthday. In 2002 the group obtained the main media prize for best regional newspaper.
SUD OUEST is installing Protec’s MILENIUM Cross Media solutions in all its local editions. These applications will allow edition, production and advertising to be fully integrated in the same workflow. The system for managing contents will include the production of pages, their design, simultaneous edition, and the integrated reception of news and images, amongst other different functions. In addition, advertising will be automatically placed in the different editions. The company will also have a multimedia file for digital storage of editorial contents - based on IXIASOFT's TEXTML Server - while communications between the different newsdesks and the print centre will be fully integrated.
