Insert elements

The Element List lets you quickly insert valid XML elements.

The Element List provides you with a quick way of inserting the XML elements that are valid at the current cursor position in your XML document.
  1. Open the topic in your XMetaL editor.
  2. Place the cursor where you want to insert an element.
    You can also highlight a word or phrase. The inserted element will surround the selected text.
  3. Open the Element List with the Insert option enable. Either:
    • Press CTRL+E.
    • On the View toolbar, click the Element button Insert element icon.
    • Right-click, then select Insert Element....
    • From the menu bar, click XML Document > Insert > Element....
    • From the menu bar, click XML Document > View > Element List.
    The element at the current cursor position appears at the top of the view. The list of elements that are valid to insert are listed below.
  4. Highlight the element you want to insert, then double-click.
    The element is applied to the text.
