Create a new BIRT report

This procedure describes how to create a new report within your BIRT project folder.

You must have a project folder available in BIRT.
  1. If necessary, open the Report Design Perspective.
  2. From the menu bar, select File > New > Report.
    The New Report dialog appears.

    This dialog displays your BIRT project folders.

  3. Select the project folder from the collapsible tree.
    Important: The REPOSITORY folder is used by IXIASOFT CCMS. Do not use this folder to store reports.
    The project folder's name appears in the Enter or select parent folder field.
  4. Optional: Append a new subfolder name to the project folder in the Enter or select parent folder field.
    The system can create a subfolder of your project folder at this time. Use the file and path naming conventions for your system.
  5. In the File name field, enter the name you want to use for your new report.
  6. Click Next.
    The second New Report dialog appears.

    This is where you choose the underlying layout of the report.

  7. Use the Report templates list to select the template you want to use.
    The Preview panel and Description will give you an idea of what the selected template does.
  8. Select the required Report Orientation.
  9. Click Finish.
