Insert a conref

In IXIASOFT CCMS Web, you can reuse elements by inserting them as a conref.

You must have the topic you want to add the conref to checked out. Also, the element you want to reuse as a conref must be in a topic with the referable-content type and already have an ID attribute.

To insert a conref:

  1. in Topic Editor, select the location in the topic where you want to add the conref.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click and select Reuse Content.
    • On the toolbar, click Reuse content from a document by inserting a content reference, a content key reference, or a key reference..
    The Reuse Content dialog appears with the results from a preliminary search for topics with elements you can insert as conrefs. You can use Search to refine the results.
  3. Click the title of a topic to expand it and see the reusable elements in it.

    All reusable elements are displayed. Elements that are greyed out cannot be inserted as a conref in the location that you selected.

    You can click the content snippet for the element to see a preview of it in its original context.

  4. To select and insert the element, do one of the following:
    • While in the preview of the element, click Insert.
    • To insert the element without previewing it, click the radio button for it and then click Insert.

The element is inserted at the location you selected as a conref. Its background is shaded differently.
