Edit map element attributes

This procedure lets you edit the attributes of a map element.

  • The map must be locked.
  • Map elements must be displayed.
If you are using the topic stub feature to plan the structure of a map, this procedure lets you specify the topic navtitle and type. This is also the procedure you use for specifying topic types when you are working with reltables.
Note: Some attributes cannot be edited from the Properties view. For example, you cannot change the class or the conditions (audience, product, platform, etc.) from that view.
  1. Open the map in the DITA Map view.
  2. Highlight the map element whose attributes or text you want to edit.
  3. Open the Properties view.
  4. If necessary, expand the Attributes node.
The element's attributes are listed in alphabetical order.
  5. Type a Value in the field next to the appropriate attribute(s).

For example, you could enter "task" (without quotation marks) in the field next to the type attribute.

Your values are added to the map file.
