Prepare the localization kit

Once the files are in the Localization cycle, you can prepare a localization kit for each language and send it to the translation team. One localization kit must be prepared for each of the target languages.

Before you can prepare a localization kit, you must do the following:

  • If localizing a map, the title for the map must be in a element (not an attribute).
  • Maps and topics must have the status Localization:tb translated (or its equivalent in your workflow).

The localization process requires a substantial amount of system resources. If you are localizing several maps in many different languages you may notice an impact on your computer's performance.

To prepare the localization kit:

  1. Search for the map(s) or topic(s) you need to translate:
    1. Open the Search view.
    2. In the Cycles panel, select the Localization checkbox.
    3. In the Document Types panel, select Maps and/or Topics, depending on what you are localizing.
    4. In the Languages panel, select the target language(s).
    5. Click Search.
All maps or topics that are being localized in these languages appear in the Search Results view.
  2. In the Search Results view, right-click the map(s) or topic(s) and select Localization > Prepare Localization Kit.
The Generate Kit dialog appears as the localization kit is generated and zipped.
  3. Once the localization kit is prepared, do one of the following:
    • If Auto save is enabled, the Generate Kit dialog displays the location where the file was saved. Click OK.
    • If Auto save is not enabled, the Save As dialog appears. Pick a filename and location, then click Save.

The localized objects now have the status Localization:in translation (or its equivalent in your workflow).

Once the files are translated, you must import them back into IXIASOFT CCMS Desktop.
