Preview which topics are included in a map with conditions

You can use the Show Conditions feature to preview which topics are included in a map when you specify certain conditions. This can give you an idea of the topics that would be included when you generate the output of a map.

Note: This feature applies to topic-level conditions, and it shows the topics that would be included in a map when one or more conditions are applied. It does not apply to conditions that are set inside a topic.

To preview which topics are included in a map when conditions are set:

  1. In the DITA Map view or DITA Map Editor, click the Show Conditions button (select conditions button).
    The Show Conditions dialog appears.
    Note: If the Show all conditions checkbox is checked, uncheck it.
    The list of conditions used at the map level are displayed. For example, the following diagram shows that the linux and windows Platform conditions are used in this map.

  2. Select the conditions to apply to your map.
    For example, if you want to preview which topics will be included in your map if you apply the windows Platform condition, select windows.
  3. Click OK.
All the topics that would be excluded from the map are grayed out. For example, the following diagram shows that one of the "Installing TEXTML Server" chapters would be excluded from the map when the windows condition is selected:
