    • General administration tasks and information

The Administration role within IXIA CCMS Web enables a user with administrator privileges to access additional functions, including user management, the ability to refresh the server for users, provide templates, adjust Collaborative Review settings, and more.

      • Software release numbering

The values in a software release version convey the significance of the software changes from one version to another. With each version release, you can infer the scope of change by the version number.

      • IXIA CCMS architecture

The IXIA CCMS solution is comprised of client and server components.

      • Hardware and software requirements

Consider all back-end hardware and software requirements.

      • Administrator role prerequisites

You must have the role of TEXTML Server Administrator before undertaking the tasks outlined in this document. This is a level of permission that is set outside of IXIA TEXTML Server software, typically using the Active Directory.

      • Administrative constraints in dedicated SaaS deployments

Some administration information in these guides applies only to on-premise deployments because MadCap Software handles the tasks for customers with dedicated SaaS deployments.

      • Third-party SAML authentication for SSO

IXIA CCMS Web can be set up with third-party SAML authentication, enabling users to access a single sign-on (SSO) service, authenticating them within the system.

      • Refresh the browser cache

When a configuration change involves changes to the CCMS user interface, it's sometimes necessary to force a refresh of the browser cache to make those changes appear.

      • Refresh the Web Server

Anytime you make a change to the CCMS configuration, you must refresh the Web Server to ensure the change is activated for CCMS Web.

      • Synchronize configuration files in CCMS Desktop

To apply the latest configuration changes made to the Content Store, users must synchronize the configuration files.

      • Using theTEXTML Administration perspective

The TEXTML Administration perspective contains several views that allows you to configure, manage, and customize IXIA CCMS.

      • Automatic system locks

To execute some user actions, IXIA CCMS Web locks objects in the background. This process is called a system lock.

      • Break the lock on a content object

If a user left a content object—a map, topic, image, resource, or ditaval—locked and is unavailable to release the lock through the application, you have to manually break the lock to allow another user to work on the object.

      • Break the lock on a configuration file

If there is more than one System Administrator in your organization, it's possible that another Admin might have left a file locked after working on it. If you need to make changes, you must first break the other Admin's lock.

      • Break another administrator's lock on users.xml in CCMS Web

If an administrator needs to change a setting in the users.xml file but another administrator has already locked the file, it is possible to break that lock in order to edit the file.

      • Retrieve an archived map

If you need to work on an archived map, you can retrieve it from the archive collection and move it back to the published repository.

      • Modify a Content Store file

To modify a Content Store configuration file, you must check out a workable copy, save it to your local workspace, update it, and then check it back in.

      • Stop and start IXIA CCMS components

If IXIA TEXTML Server stops and then restarts for any reason, you must restart all the components in sequence, subject to their dependencies on other components.

    • Managing roles, groups, and users

This section contains information and instructions for the configuration of roles, groups, and users.

    • Configuring object workflows

Workflows capture the stages that various objects pass through during their life cycles. You can configure workflows that reflect your current processes and change those workflows as needed.

    • Working with Index Definitions

    • Managing access rights

You can determine which features users have access to by defining access rights. You can configure user access to various IXIA CCMS functions.

    • Configuring triggers

    • Customizing the CCMS Desktop user interface

You can customize the CCMS Desktop user interface, based on your enterprise and users.

    • Customizing the CCMS Web interface

    • Customizing the authoring experience

    • Creating and maintaining topic and map templates

While Information Architects typically create topic and map templates, System Administrators add them to IXIA CCMS to make them available for use by Writers and SMEs.

    • Configuring assignments, Collaborative Reviews, and Approvals

    • Extending content search

    • Customizing spell checking

    • Configuring localization

To take full advantage of IXIA CCMS's powerful and flexible localization features, you can configure the CCMS in multiple ways.

    • Configuring DRM functionality

    • Customizing output generation

    • Setting up email notifications

You can configure IXIA CCMS Web to send users an email notification when certain events occur.

    • Configuring content import

    • Extending the Publish feature

    • Configuring Project Management settings

You can configure changes to Project settings, as well as project content such as pie charts, warnings, team workload time intervals, and maximum team member workloads.

    • Oxygen Web Author plugins in CCMS Web

Oxygen provides several plugins for Oxygen Web Author. These plugins modify the behavior of editors in IXIA CCMS Web, such as the Topic Editor and the Map Editor.

    • Customizing Oxygen frameworks

IXIA CCMS uses Oxygen frameworks to deliver much of the authoring functionality. These frameworks can be extended (i.e. customized) to suit any specific authoring needs by using framework extensions.

    • Custom report templates

Users can create and generate custom reports based on queries performed in IXIA CCMS. These reports display the information returned by the query used and also include boilerplate text that serves as the report header, for example.

    • Using trace logs

Trace logs allow you to review the sequence of events and allow you to determine if there is something amiss.

    • Maintaining a deployment

The maintenance tasks required to keep the components running smoothly may fall under the responsibility of one or more individuals in your enterprise.

    • Secure communications with SSL

You can use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to provide secure communications between the IXIA TEXTML Server and the IXIA CCMS components.
