Edit a map

The Edit procedure locks and opens a map at the same time.

The file must not be locked by another user.
Use Edit to save yourself a step when you want to edit a map that is not locked.

Maps can be opened for editing from almost any view in the DITA Perspective, as long as they are in a state that allows editing. You cannot, for example, edit a map that is in the final review state (or its equivalent in your workflow).

Important: If you cause a submap to become invalid while its parent map is open in the DITA Map view, the submap is no longer displayed in the DITA Map view and an error is logged in the Error Log view.
  1. Use Search to display the map in the Search Results view.
Tip: You can also open a map by double-clicking its name in the Todo List.
  2. Right-click the map and select Edit from the menu.
The map is locked and opens in the DITA Map view.
