Adding a topic to the map

The "+" to the right of each topic in your draft map enables you to add additional topics.

When you click "+", a dialog will open up, displaying two options for creating a new topic:

  • Same Level: which creates a new, "peer" topic at the same level
  • Sub Level: which creates a new, "sibling" topic one level below

A peer topic is useful for organizing things that have parallel structure, like separate chapters in a book, or topics talking about related subjects. Adding a sub level topic make sense when you want to add information that is subordinate, such as subjects covered within a chapter.

When you have made your choice, a dialog appears where you can add a descriptive title for the topic, and choose an appropriate template for it.
