Permission prerequisites

To assign permissions for TEXTML Server, you first add group names or user names in the TEXTML Server Administration Console and you then assign them the appropriate permissions.

Before you can assign permissions as described in this chapter, make sure that:
  • TEXTML Server authentication is enabled in the configuration. See the TEXTML Server Installation Guide for more information.
  • The domain and group/user names that you add in the TEXTML Server Administration Console exactly match an existing domain and group/user name in your operating system. Otherwise, the permissions created in the Administration Console will not be applied.
  • The user/group added is resolvable by the Linux pluggable authentication modules (PAM). See the TEXTML Server Installation Guide for more information on how to configure TEXTML Server to use Linux credentials.
Note: On Linux, it is possible to have both a user and a group with the same name. In this situation, if you configure permissions for that name, then both the group and the user will have these permissions.
