Initial status of objects in CCMS Web

In IXIASOFT CCMS Web, the initial status for a new object depends on the role of the user who creates the object. For example, if a writer and a contributor both create the same type of object, the new objects start with different statuses.

How CCMS Web sets status

CCMS Web determines the initial status of new objects dynamically because different roles all use CCMS Web, and these roles can work on objects in only some statuses. CCMS Web is configured so that users can start work on objects they create immediately.

For example, in the default configuration, contributors can only work on topics in the Contribute status. So if CCMS Web created topics in a different status (such as Work), then contributors could not work on the new topics they create.

Example of how CCMS Web sets status

A writer and a contributor each create a topic in CCMS Web. The topic that the writer creates starts with the initial status Work because the writer role is active at that status. However, the topic that the contributor creates starts with the initial status Contribute because the contributor role is active on objects in Contribute status.
