Searching within a sub-tree

You can search for topics within a specific sub-tree of a map that is open in DITA Map view.

When you search within a sub-tree, you search by using information extracted from the current map. The extracted information you can use includes criteria such as topic Title, Author, or ID. However, what is available might vary according to your configuration.

Note: The map must be open in either the DITA Map view or the DITA Map Editor.

To search within a sub-tree:

  1. In the DITA Map view, click Refresh to update the view.
  2. Right-click the parent topic of the sub-tree, and select Search within a sub-tree.
    The Selection Builder dialog appears.

  3. From the Index drop-down list, select what criteria you want to search by.
  4. From the Value drop-down list, select what you are searching for.
The information in the Value list is extracted from the topics of the current map.
For example, if you select the ID index, then the Value selection list shows the IDs of all the topics in the current map.
  5. Click Add Row to add additional criteria.
The Clear button removes all rows.
The topics that meet your search criteria are highlighted within the current sub-tree.
