Fork a topic

Topics can be in more than one Branch. If you need to edit a topic that is in more than one Branch, you must fork the topic.

You only need to pick a Branch and fork it in the following scenarios:

  • You are editing it outside of Map Editor
  • It is not assigned to you

To fork and edit a topic:

  1. Click Fork or Fork icon.

    One of the following appears:

    • If you can edit the topic in only one of the Branches, a message appears saying which Branch the topic will automatically fork in.

Click Fork & Edit to fork it and check it out.

    • If you could edit the topic in one of several Branches, the Fork & Edit dialog appears so you can pick a Branch.

      Follow the steps below.

  2. Select the Branch you want to edit in.
The Branches are sorted by Branch type.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To pick a context map for the topic, click the radio button for it.
    • To edit the topic without a context map, click No context map.

A new instance of the topic is created in the Branch you selected. Any changes you make will appear in that topic for only that Branch.
