File share

A CIFS or NFS file share is required in specific configurations.

Deploying CCMS Desktop

A file share is required if you want to distribute CCMS Desktop via a network share. (The alternatives are an automated deployment tool or manual distribution of a zip file.)

The share must have at least 800 MB of disk space per instance of CCMS Desktop.

Supporting a remote access solution with more than one server

If you want to use a remote access solution with a server farm, you must have a file share to host user workspaces.

The file share must be fast and capable of holding many small files. Every user session on each remote server will connect to that file share, query the contents of the workspace, and walk the directory to discover changes. If 50 concurrent sessions are connecting the file share and each workspace contains 50,000 files, the file share must quickly walk the directory structure of 2.5 million files.

The share must have 1 to 2 GB of disk space per workspace.

Supporting file sharing among users

You can optionally choose to provide a file share for users to exchange files. For example, they can share generated PDFs or hand off localization kits.

The disk space requirements are flexible and depend on your needs.
