Add a new timeline to a document type

You can assign a new timeline to a document type.

  1. In TEXTML Administration perspective, right-click the Content Store node and select CCMS Admin > Manage Roles.
    The Role Manager window opens.
Note: IXIASOFT recommends that you avoid directly editing the roles.xml file. The Role Manager window has built-in validation mechanisms to reduce errors.
  2. Click the Lock button (lock manager icon).
  3. In the Roles list, select the role whose timeline you want to configure.
The documents associated with this role appear in the Document Types list.
  4. In the Document Type list, select the document whose timeline you want to configure.
The timelines configured for that document appear in the Time Lines list.
  5. Right-click in the Time Lines list and select New Time Line > state.
Where state indicates the document state timeline you want to configure for this role, for example, Active.
  6. In the Time Lines list, select the state you just added.
The cycles defined in your configuration will appear in the Status list:

    Define role status

  7. Expand the Status nodes to see their states.
Together, cycle and state define the status; for example, Authoring:draft.
  8. Select a status for the role/document/timeline configuration that you've just defined.
  9. Click Check In Document (check in manager icon).
Your changes are updated in the Repository.
  10. Inform users of the changes.
The changes will be applied automatically once users close and then reopen their CCMS Desktop. Users can also apply the changes without restarting their CCMS Desktop by clicking IXIASOFT CCMS > Synchronize Configuration. Additionally, refresh IXIASOFT CCMS Web so that users will see the change reflected there.
