Break another user's lock on a topic

There are some circumstances where a user may have locked a topic and that lock then needs to be "broken" so that others can work on it. The following procedure applies equally to other content objects, including images and map.

Discover all of the topic IDs that need to be "broken".
Note: To perform this task, you must have the role of TEXTML Server Administrator.

The break the lock on a topic (or any other content object), you must first know the ID of the topic. You will then search for that topic within the TEXTML Administration perspective, and can then "break the lock" on it.

Note: Any changes made to the topic by the person who originally locked it will be lost.
  1. In the TEXTML Administration perspective, connect to your server.
  2. Navigate to the /content/authoring collection.
    Note: If you need to break the lock on a localized topic, you would do this same procedure for each language within the /content/localization collection.
  3. In the search field, enter the ID for the topic.
    That topic appears under the /content/authoring collection adjacent to a small lock symbol attached to the document icon ().
  4. Right-click the topic, select Break Lock. At the Delete Confirmation dialog, click Yes.
  5. Right-click the server name and select Refresh. After a few seconds the small lock icon for the document will disappear.
    Note: Within IXIASOFT CCMS, users will have to refresh their view of the topic for it to appear unlocked.
