Restore TEXTML Server on Windows

Restoring TEXTML Server involves reinstalling the component; although the procedure can be expedited if you have a backup from the original installation.

To restore TEXTML Server:

  1. Double-click the following downloaded executable to run the installation:
    SetupTextmlServer-Win-x64-[version].exe
  2. Click I Agree to accept the license agreement.
  3. In the Choose Components window, select components to install according to the role of the target computer, as follows:
    Server Role Components to install
    TEXTML Server only TextmlServer, Metaservices (a search aggregator)
    TEXTML Server and application
    • For Tomcat: Java Client Files
    • For IIS: .NET Client Files
    • For Apache HTTP: Client Files
    Developer workstation or client server

    For Java applications:

    • Java Client Files
    • SDK Files (includes Java sample files)
    For .NET framework applications:
    • .NET Client Files
    • SDK Files

    For VBScript and Perl applications:

    • Client Files
    • SDK Files
    Note: You can also install all TEXTML Server components on a single computer.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Choose Install Location window, specify the path where to install TEXTML Server (you can keep the default), and click Install.
    For example, you would specify: C:\Program Files\IxiaSoft\TextmlServer45
  6. Click Close when the installation is complete.

    The installation files are placed under %ProgramFiles%\IxiaSoft\TextmlServer45 (or according to the path specified during the installation).

    The configuration files are placed under %ProgramData%\IxiaSoft\TextmlServer45.

    The following services are created:
    • TEXTML Server version [version number] (when TEXTML Server is installed)
    • Metaservices version [version number] (when Metaservices component is installed)
  7. Obtain a copy of your license file (IxiaLicense.ilf) from your backup and paste it in the license folder: %ProgramData%/IxiaSoft/Licenses
  8. Reconfigure Kerberos authentication, if required.
  9. Obtain a copy of the TextmlServerCfg.xml configuration file from your backup and paste it in: %ProgramData%\Ixiasoft\TextmlServer45
  10. Review the TextmlServerCfg.xml file to ensure that its values match those on the host machine. In particular, verify:
    • the iiop value
    • the path to the TEXTML server log
    • the path to log calls
    • the path to the Content Store
  11. Start TEXTML Server.
